<p>I am a current Junior:</p>

<p>Are Bengali[Descents of people from Bangladesh] considered URM? We are commonly mistaken from being from India, which is not true. I do not know many who go to Ivies.</p>

<p>I will take the SATs soon but my predicted scores will be 2200-2400.

<p>You have a decent shot, and just as much of a shot as the other ~20k applicants.</p>

<p>Well, to answer your URM question, do you consider yourself Asian in any way, if yes, then you are not a URM. About the schools, without accurate test information + the fact that these schools can get to be a crapshoot, I can’t really tell you much, although you do seem to be in the running. The trick is making yourself stand out from the thousands of applicants every year.</p>

I dunno if multiple languages help out… I’ve got the same basic polyglot bit in me though (swap French with Latin and Bengali with Urdu).</p>

<p>How are you projecting a 2200 SAT? Technically speaking, you should get about a 2110 on the SAT (typically the PSAT is 10% of the SAT, or so the pamphlet says). My projected SAT score was only off by 60… Honestly, I’d have to say <em>maybe</em> to Yale and Harvard. I dunno… as mentioned, NO TEST SCORES = BAD CHANCING</p>

<p>Being Asian seems too much of a broad spectrum. I mean there aren’t many Bengali applicants, so I do not find it reasonable that we should not be included as URM. What do you all think?</p>

<p>I had little preparation for the PSAT, so scores can increase drastically. Standardized tests are predictable.</p>

<p>URM is african-descent, hispanic, or native american. Bengali is looped in with Indian/Pakistani - both of which are ORM.</p>
