OOS is going to make it immensely difficult for you, you scores need to be good for OOS and ur SAT wud b fine if u were in state. Unweighted is kinda low but your ECs rock. If i guessed id say like high match area, specially if you ROTC there

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/623727-chances-would-appreciated-chances-back.html

thanks for the quick reply, i was sure to chance u too. I know the SATs are a bit low, but the GPA is top 10% at high school of 300…so I dont think its too low, but for OOS your probably right :-(

I’d say you look like a good match, just based on the huge amounts of extracurriculars.

Haha it seems we have applied to some of the same schools (I saw you on the Indiana thread), where else did you apply?

And just curious, are you competing in DECA this year? If so, we should hopefully see each other at nationals.

YES I AM!!! what event are u… wow i cant wait for California

Yea i applied to Indiana got into Kelley and Hutton and the hole bit… I also applied to Penn state, boston college, the united states naval academy, boston university, bentley university, drexel university, saint joseph’s university, and Princeton (I had a small connection so i figured even thought there was no chance in hell, why not?) Originally I was gona take advantage of an NROTC scholarship which I received, but it will more than likely be rescinded because i have a peanut allergy (schools under the NROTC I applied to include University of Penn and Notre Dame, but only because of the NROTC situation

Yeah I didn’t apply to nearly the amount of schools as you, but we both applied to ND and Indiana though. Eagerly awaiting that Kelley Scholar’s decision that’s supposed to be coming soon, and of course the decision here.

ATL was SWEEEET last year!

This year, I’m in Financial Analysis Team and Advertising Campaign Manual, hopefully one of the two will get us there…that trip will totally cap off the end of senior year!!!

yeah i definately agree…i just finised my manual for business and financial services marketing research. Also ATL was pretty good. I applied by October 21 and heard on the 15 of november for Indiana, too late for kelley scholars!!! Can you post your stats please?

Spanish Honors Society:

Played golf (JV) sophomore year and (V) senior year

Played tennis sophomore year

Had a internship at a local business over the summer - was let into the decision making process in a real-life situation (35 hours/week)

I’ve got slightly higher test scores, not nearly as much extracurricular involvement…I personally think that we’ll both get in.

thanks for that… SLIGHTLY HIGHER??? I think NOT!!! you are pulling a 35 ACT and a very good GPA. I think you are assured in. As for me, while my stellar ECs look appealing, this is first and foremost a numbers game and thats wat scares me the most

iomr, go start your own chances thread and stop hijacking other people’s threads.

jarad, I think that while UNC is a reach for you, you never know, and it looks like the EC’s may help swing the ball in your favor some.

thank you for your response…hopefully the ECs will help. By the way, I asked iomr for his stats, as we were having a conversation.

“I personally think that we’ll both get in.”

I wouldn’t be so confident. While I think you both have a good shot, you should nonetheless be prepared to get deferred/rejected (depending on if you applied EA or not). UNC has recieved a record number of admissions thus far, and I am almost positive OOS applicants are largely responsible for the increase(judging from previous years where there was an increase). Without a doubt, this will lower the already “Yale-like” OOS acceptance rate.

However, I will still say it is a match for both of you; iomr probably has the better chance of getting in because of his excellent class rank and high test scores…EC are also good. Jarad, you are not far behind. Your EC’s are very nice; I hope you used them to your advantage in the essays.
I am applying In-State this year, so I won’t have as much competition as you two will. Nevertheless, I am still nervous and checking the UNC website/blog daily. Good luck to both of you.

@phonyreal98…lol, fail

thanks for the vote of confidence…yea i have good reason to be nervice, i understand that, but hey perhaps my ECs will get me through. as for imor, his super high rank and stellar ACT score should land him the spot…i do not think he will have a problem

you have a good chance

bump…come on folks show some more love here

Don’t mean to be a dick, but you’re in the upper income bracket and hockey was a financial hardship? Uhhh… what?

dont mean to be a dick, but perhaps if you had been a tad bit more astute, you would have noticed i mentioned upper income bracket for 2008. i played ice hockey during freshman and first half of sophomore, but could no longer do so afterword for reasons of financial difficulties that you are simply NOT entitled to knowing about! understand that a recovery was made, and that should be sufficient.

I do not appreciate your comment The Chronic 420. This is simply a chance thread, not a space for you to dispute my credentials or record. My credentials and record are my own business, and you must trust that considering I want the best respones possible, I will relay my record to this thread with truthfulness and integrity. You are not a judge, so please, if you wish to chance me, do so. If not, DO NOT post here!

Sorry mom.

did your family get a government bailout?
