Hi All
I have wanted to attend Penn since I was born. Both of parents are graduates as well as my grandfather. He was an influential member of the admissions board until his retirement. However, issues over money led to a permanent lack of communication beetween my family and him.

Anywho here are my stats

Which ranking are you using to rank your school?
I just tried to look up Nebraska in the US news list, and it was the only state that didn’t show up… Did they just forget or something? o_O

I’m optimistic. I might not have the most impressive stats but with a killer essay (which has already been completed) and great teacher recommendations I think I have some edge. Also I did not mention I interned at senator’s Nelson office through late july and august and will receive a recommendation from him.

I really don’t mean to be rude, but unless you’re a recruited athlete or are planning on donating like 100k to the University, even an 1850 combined will be very tough to get in. I don’t recall the exact numbers, but the middle 50% at Penn for SAT scores is something like 2150-2310. Make of that what you will.

Obviously though, you seem set on applying anyway so it’s not like it matters all that much.

If you are able to pull your SAT up to 2100, at the least, you might have some chance of getting in, considering your legacy background. But I don’t see that you’ve taken the most rigorous courses, and you should know that an internship at senator’s office isn’t a game-changer. Still, as a fellow applicant I wish you the best of luck :)

I’d say that unless you score above the 2000 threshold, your chances at Penn are very slim.

On the other hand, it would appear as if you’d perform better on the ACT standardized exam, rather than the SAT. Perhaps you should shift your perspective.
