Essays/LORs/Other
I love writing essays and so far those people who reviewed my college essays and personal statement liked them.
For LORs:
Computer Science Teacher: 9/10; built very strong connection with him. He is a nice person, but just naturally looks like he is aggressive, although he is not, so students don’t really often ask him for recommendations, but he was the one who nominated me for 4 scholarship awards among technical institutes (that was the highest earned number of scholarships earned in our class)
Biology teacher: 8/10; he knows I am passionate about science, and when doing my science fair project we were staying late discussing different science topics. But he has a lot of people asking him for LORs, so not really sure of how much care will he give for one letter
Research Mentor: 9.7/10; she was mentoring me through my internship and said that I was a great addition to the lab. Also said that I opened them a new direction to pursue through the project I am doing. Very strong connection. I am the first high schooler in the lab and in her experience, and she is more than happy with my work

Yes, but that previous one is a little outdated, so decided to make the new thread since would have to change too much in the original one

Are all these schools showing a Net price which your family can afford? If you are on the bubble with affordability, maybe swap U Mass for Purdue? Just want to make sure you have a rock solid safety with a price tag which is comfortable for your family.

You sound like a fantastic student and any college will be lucky to have you. I don’t think you need to take the SAT twice more- once more just for your own peace of mind is more than enough!

I think out family will be able to afford those $25,000 per year. It will be definitely not easy, but with enough workload we can manage that. Also I am okay with taking a loan.

I would also suggest you run the NPC to all the schools on your list to determine if they are affordable. I noticed you won the Bryn Mawr book award. Have you looked into the women’s colleges? For a true safety I would look into UMASS Lowell and their women in Stem program.

Strange that there is a second thread. Main difference seems to be that we are now chancing not just a MA resident but an Ukranian immigrant to MA. Great credentials no doubt

I am thinking about applying to UMass Lowell. They will have an informational session close to where I live, so I am going there to see.
I ran NPCs for most of the colleges on my list and they all come in between $20k and $30k

I am technically MA resident, but a very recent immigrant. Also the last post was kind of messy so decided just to create a new one
