Is it true that you have a higher chance of getting into a school if you apply ED instead of applying regular? I don’t think it matters for HYPMS but what about the other great schools?

Thanks

Applying early decision gives you a boost at virtually all schools (including Princeton until they scrapped it this year). Of course, it does not guarantee admission.

The logic is simple. If you tell a school that you will attend if accepted, they will likely choose you over someone who has not made a similar commitment, even if your credentials are slightly worse.

At schools where ED makes up a large percentage of the class, the boost is likely to be the highest. Columbia and Penn are great schools that take more than 40% of their class ED.
