Chance?

Just curious… Thanks in advance. Also, what do you guys think of the bag pipe thing? And working with the special needs students? I plan to study either economics or finance, and in addition POSSIBLY math or anthropology. I am looking at Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, and Northwestern.

I attend a pretty well-ranked school in IL
ACT-34-35 range (took it once got a 34, but I think with some prep I could easily get it up to a 35)
Class not ranked
GPA-4.1-2ish (nothing stellar)
AP Exams (4-5 on all taken so far)
Euro
US
Macro
Micro
Calc BC
Comparative Gov’t & Politics

Track (3 years varsity, probably good enough to walk-on)
Cross-Country (2 years varsity)
-Working 5-6 hours/week helping special needs students with athletics.
I’m a member of a highly ranked bag pipe band, as a drummer.

You’re a competitive applicant. Yes, the bag pipe thing is interesting, as is the work with special needs kids.
What is your unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale?
Also, there is no undergrad major in finance in Weinberg. If you are strong enough in math to be considering a major in it, and are interested in econ, you should look at the MMSS program. If you do that and econ, you’ll be in a strong position for business/finance related jobs, and if you can parlay the MMSS/Econ combo into a spot in the Kellogg certificate program for undergrads, you would be in a great position.
Good luck.

The hard thing is to evaluate what your 4.1-ish 4.2 ish means. UW GPA would be helpful.

with a 34 ACT, there’s really little or no need to take it again.
