Hey,
I really messed up my first year of uni due to mental health issues so my average is only a 64% and I failed a course. Should I just given up any hopes for medical school or do I still have a chance if I really make a huge turnaround in my grades starting from second year?
You have time…Dont dont give up!
Too soon to give up. However, you will probably need to delay your med school application until after graduation to give yourself some additional time to improve your GPA. (Maybe even longer than that if you really, really tanked your GPA. Just remember med school admissions is a marathon not a sprint. It doesn’t matter who finishes first or fastest so long as you arrive at your goal.)
But the most important thing—get yourself healthy and stable so you can succeed at whatever you choose to do.
