Chances, Alternatives, etc.

I am a student at a two-year college planning to transfer in next fall. However, I do not know where I have a decent chance at being admitted. My GPA is a 3.40 overall and 3.65 in my major (Physics/Math) and I have not yet taken the SAT/ACT. I’m a California resident but I’m interested in applying OOS as well. My EC’s are lacking but I do work at the college and I’m a Phi Theta Kappa member In addition to participating in the Physics club. The schools I’m looking at include:
UCB
UCSD
Reed
Marlboro
NM Institute

…as well as a few others. My friend says I should apply to Carnegie Mellon, but I’m still unsure. Which of these schools are matches? What other schools might I look at applying to? What kind of SAT or ACT score would boost my chances at better schools?

You won’t get much advice without SAT/ACT scores. Your GPA doesn’t give enough information.
I suspect your best bet will be the UC system. There’s some kind of automatic admission agreement…

Also, if you are interested in the UCs, there is a whole crazy method of determining a “UC GPA”–which only includes sophomore and junior year courses and adds 8 points for honors courses–look at my comments to megan15’s thread below for info on this–then repost your UC GPA as well as the test scores and ECs for better chances estimates.

If you are looking at Marlboro you might also want to consider Bennington.
