Highest SAT scores: CR 740, Math 670, Writing 800 (essay 12)

750 Literature
5 APUSH (school only offers a few APs)
Has taken rigorous coursework
Excellent teacher and counselor recommendations
Excellent essays</p>

<p>Wants to major in journalism. Also very interested in poli sci. We visited GW last summer.</p>

<p>Heavy involvement in school newspaper and drama. Theater internship with local theater group. World Quest team, NHS. Typical community service hours. Skipped 8th grade, and his only B’s came in 9th grade.</p>

<p>He has already been accepted at UW-Madison, U Missouri (Honors & direct Journalism admit), Ohio University (direct Journalism admit).</p>

<p>I have another question: it appears that you must submit financial aid forms in order to receive merit aid, is that correct? Also, might he qualify for merit money?</p>

<p>You should look into the Presidential Arts Scholarships that GW gives to theater kids. It’s $15,000 a year and requires a fairly manageable commitment to work in the theater department, but it’s merit based, not needs based, so there’s no need to do financial aid paperwork. Good luck!</p>
