Chances? and Percentile

<p>After looking at everyone’s “Chance” posts, it seems like my application would be pretty far down compared to everyone else. After looking around online, it seems most people who post those “Chance” posts would have great shots at getting in, since they would be in the top half of the class. Carnegie Mellon does have a spread of</p>

Math 680-760
and ACT 28-32</p>

<p>so is it wrong to think that because I around what the 25 percentile has that I have a decent shot at getting in?</p>

<p>4.2 GPA, hope to apply with 4.4
1230 SAT I, hope to apply with 1320-1350
AP Biology this year, confident in a 4, maybe even 5
AP Chem next year, hopefully 4 as well.
70 something out of about 900 in class rank.
Will have taken AP Euro History, AP Macroeco, and AP U.S. Govn’t
and about 250 community service hours.</p>

<p>It would be better if you raise your SAT score a bit, but CMU looks at more than just GPA and test scores. Just because you may be in the lower percentile doesn’t mean that you don’t stand a chance. I’d go for it.</p>
