Essay was very good (reviewed by many people), on losing a house to a hurricane, and how to overcome such a tragedy.

Anything else? Thanks so much, honest opinions please (=

you are in no doubt

with UM regular decision and OOS it is going to be very hard to get in no matter what your stats are. Thus, reach for anyone.

^ applicants like yellowbird are what makes U of M regular decisions so difficult, and the OOS/IS divide wouldn’t impede applicants as qualified as yellowbird, IMO.

I would stick with ckl22 and say that yellowbird is all but admitted. And you can survive the winter, though you should probably do a college visit in January of February for a realistic idea of what Michigan is like in the winter.

I lived in England for a few years, so i hope that that kind of prepared me, it is looking like i am moving up north for college (deferred from Duke which was my first choice, looking at Boston College, Notre Dame, UMich, Dartmouth, Cornell, Tufts, Northeastern, etc.)…either way, i believe i will be in the cold! haha.

Thanks for the positive feedback, and yes Jimmy i realize OOS adds a lot of pressure.

I am from Florida as well and I visited UM in the winter and I loved it…even though the cold did kill me but I lived all my life in Fl.

I doubt i will have a chance to visit this winter, as i am taking a big college visiting trip to New England 'cuz most of my college choices are there. Which sucks, but i will deal with the cold if i end up at UMich.

you are in

What part of England are you from? Michigan is very much like north of London near the ocean :). I lived in Broadstairs (southeast England) and the winters are nothing like here in Michigan lol. We also get much less precepitation then anywhere in England that I know of lol.

Oh and you’ll survive, you’ll just be in for a shock after a week or so when you realize that the cold doesn’t go away for a few months :).

I was near Newmarket. And yeah, i figure it will be a shock.

also what is the chance for merit scholarships? i’m oos sooo… haha.

you would have had a really, really good shot if you did ED, but i don’t know how hard it is to get in RD. good luck, though!

Michigan does not have ED or EA, it uses a modified rolling admissions system referred to as “early response”. Yellowbird is a safe-match or a straight match given her stats. If she is a US citizen, there is a chance she could get some merit money, but one never knows with Michigan.
