Chances as a transfer?

I’m actually a high school senior, but I’ll have my A.A. in Pre-Law this December from Pensacola Junior College. I’ll leave out my high school stats for now, because the admissions person I talked to said that they would look at both my college stuff and high school stuff separately. When I asked which would take precedent if I were accepted based on my transfer work, but not by my high school work, I would still be accepted as a student… even if my high school transcript wasn’t good enough. So what do you think?

So based strictly on my college application, do I have a chance?

You can’t apply as a transfer. I read the transfer page at UF Admissions 2 days ago, and it stipulates that you must apply as a FTIC freshmen.

I will be applying as a freshman, but they will look at both my college and high school transcript. The admissions lady said that if I were accepted based on either one, they would accept me to the university. I’ll still be a “freshman,” but they’ll look at my college work as well. So for the sake of argument, lets pretend that I’m a typical transfer student… what are my chances?

This is (as the admissions lady said) an advantage that only very few applicants have. I essentially get two chances at applying at one time. If they think my high school record sucks, they can still accept me as a freshman based on my college transcript.

Still: I would try to get at the very least a 1350 SAT or 30 on the ACT.

They can’t ask for a GPA much better than yours. I’m not familiar with UF, but I vote that they’ll take you.

Well, of course I’ll try and score as high as possible with the SAT. I’m aiming for about a 1300. I know it’s still not at a safe level, but I think that along with a competitive transfer GPA will give me a pretty good chance… I hope.

greenblue, you’re right. You can’t have a much higher GPA than I do, but it is UF… and it’s hard to tell what they’ll do.
