Chances at an ivy?

Hi! I’m currently a sophomore and, because I still have some time to make improvements, wanted to know what my chances are at an ivy or a college like Carnegie Mellon. I’m intending to study in computer science:

Freshmen Year:
Worlds Studies (English and History): A
German III: A+
Web Site Design: A+
Chem. & Physics: A
Algebra II: A

Sophomore Year (Semester I only):
American Studies (English and History): A+
German IV: A+
Biology: A
AP Computer Science: A
Computer Programming: A+
Pre-Calc: A+

GPA (unweighted): 4.13

Extracurriculars:
Chamber Orchestra
Orchestra
Math Club
Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) - 4 years States and Regional 1st
Coding Club
Chinese School Teacher Volunteer

Unweighted gpa’s are a 4.0 or less. They can’t be higher than 4.0

@chb088 Yes the can if the school gives an A+ 4.33.

Yes they can, if the HS calculates A+ as 4.3. That said, most colleges will reconvert the GPA using 4.0 as an A+

Ok well there you go. Colleges will recalculate that. So what would a 4.13 actually be to a college?

well take a look at OP’s grades. they are all A’s or A+'s, so UW is a 4.0.

Yes - you are on the right track. Work hard on your SAT practice tests and build on an interest outside academics that shows a commitment to something larger than an academic class. Best of luck!

You have solid stats for Carnegie Mellon. Ivy League schools like Yale and Princeton have lagged behind the big state universities in technology for more than a decade. MIT and UIUC are both good reach schools that have world class CS programs. Virginia Tech, Penn State, Michigan, Univ of TX, Texas A&M, GA Tech are all world class computer science programs.
