Let’s say one has mixed grades through out all their high school year (Ex. No F’s, about 2 D’s, Some C’s), they’re not in many challenging classes (4 AP’s and some honor classes), is in clubs throughout his or her senior year and tenth and has a very high SAT/ACT score and a well rounded essay. They want to apply to a highly selective school.

Will the school look more on the grades/classes or the score/essay?
Is it possible to be accepted?
(Schools like NYU, UGA, Emory, etc.)

Your SAT scores, as posted elsewhere, will need to come up significantly, and unless you show a major upward trend in grades and can explain the weak ones earlier, you need to be reconsidering the schools on your list. Unless you are a URM with significant hook, this list is not realistic. Sorry.
