I think your academics are excellent. But your ECs are a little thin. Most of the stuffs look fairly recent (1 or 2 years). I think you have a good shot of getting in.

I know, my EC’s are most definetely my weakest point. What kind of competition is there for the honors college? is there a site with the average stats? My sister got accepted to the honors college two years ago but they didn’t give her a dime so she couldn’t go

You do know that BC does not give out any merit aid (other than the 15 - 20 Presidential Scholars for each freshman class), don’t you? So if your sister did not get any money, the school felt that your family had enough assets to pay for her schooling. Unless your family finances have changed substantially since then, you are not likely to get any need-based aid either (although there is a chance you may qualify for some, if your sister is still attending college, since the family assets will be divided by two). If money is a major concern, you should be looking at schools that do give significant merit aid or are cheaper overall than BC.

Thanks for that input! I realize that I probably won’t qualify for any need based aid. Does anyone know of similar school size/ layout etc. that offer merit based aid or are just cheaper?

i would say you’re in

Dear supertme41 : The IB program material is interesting. There are some very interesting threads over the recent days on college confidential discussing SL and HL IB programs in comparison to AP. Your views on this would be most interesting.

Your buddy programs for special needs students is unique and might be worthy of an essay topic or at least a paragraph. Hopefully, you were able to really touch and change someone’s life this year.

Sports are present and certainly varied - rowing is somewhat unique at the high school level. Would like to have seen more in the arts if you have anything there. Remember, the challenge is to demonstrate what you add to the student body - it seems like you have some hints of good things here although a little light on follow through in all four years.

Good luck.
