I’m still not sure which degree I want to pursue exactly but I’m heavily leaning towards Computer Science or Finance, so I would like to know my chances at either the business schools or engineering schools at these colleges. Here’s my info:
Basic Info
Age: 16 (DOB Nov 7, 1998)
State: Wisconsin
Ethnicity: Indian (Born in India and lived there for 6/7 years. I’m a permanent resident and will be naturalized soon)
GPA: 3.84 UW, my school does not do weighted GPAs.
Parent Income: Not sure, I think its around 100k - 170k. They bought me a 30k car if that helps narrow the range down.
My Standardized Test Scores
ACT (1st time): 26 composite (25 English/27 Math/28 Reading/24 Science)
For this test I did not study, played videogames all day, and stayed up extremely late before the test, which ended badly.
ACT(2nd time): 31 composite (33 English/ 30 Math/ 30 Reading/ 32 Science)
Pretty sure I can do better if I take it a 3rd time but only if I really need to. I did study a little for this one.
Practice SAT: 1880 score.
I took this without any knowledge of how the SAT worked before hand and did not study at all.
I have not taken SAT or SAT II yet but I am planning to take the Chemistry and Math I or II SAT subject tests. Any advice on preparing and which math test to take would be helpful, also would be nice to know score to aim for.
AP Classes
Sophomore: AP World
Junior: AP English Language, AP United States History, AP Chemistry
Senior (Scheduled): AP English Literature, AP Calculus AB, AP Psychology, AP Spanish
I have also taken almost all the rigorous/accelerated classes available to me such as BioPhys and rigorous Comm Arts classes Freshman and Sophomore year. I didn’t take the AP test for AP World and do not know my score for the other AP classes yet, will find out a couple weeks.
Extracurricular Activities
DECA (Freshman - Senior Year) - Multiple Student Districts/Regional competitions, Also have been to Leadership Conference
Indian Club (Junior Year) - Club Started in my Junior Year but to be honest nobody does anything in this club
Marketing Internship (Senior Year) - this is a class and an internship (2 credits), next year I will go downtown after school and work for a real marketing firm and work with real businesses form my local area
I was really hoping to go to Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, or Boston University for either computer science or Finance. Any idea what my chances would be and how to improve them? Also, any alternate colleges recommendations would be welcomed. Feel free to ask for any additional info which would be helpful.
