• Silver Medalist Natl. Latin exam

We have very similar stats, so I’m hoping we both get in. I think you’re in very good shape. None of what you listed should hurt you. (Including that SATII Lit, because I’m pretty sure SATIIs aren’t required). The only things that could hurt you are bad reccommendations, bad essays, and bad luck. They get many qualified applicants, so you never know. But I think you’ll get in.

But I’m pretty sure you should count that highest SAT as a 2230, because I don’t think they combine scores from old and new tests. 2230 is still a very good score.

You don’t have to be curious. Your chances are great. Good luck!

Oh Ria, I’ve read somewhere that Chicago is not looking at writing scores at all. So it’s basically on the old 1600 scale I think.

Nooo!!! You’re right, though.

“All 2006 graduates who choose the SAT exam must take the new version…We will hold all writing scores for the purposes of research but not for student evaluation”
<a href=“College Admissions at the University of Chicago”>College Admissions at the University of Chicago;

My 800 writing score is useless!!

So will they see my highest SAT as a 1470 or a 1440?

they’re not counting the old SAT

Let’s hold on now…

If you look at the acceptance threads from last year, there were definitely unhooked students who got in with SAT I’s in the mid 1300’s. Others with SAT’s in the 1400’s and 1500’s were rejected. This kind of testing difference is not something I’d faint on the floor over!

I know it’s probably not that big of a deal, but it seems like at my school all the kids accepted from previous years had at least a 1460, and I thought they would at least look at my old SAT scores. Also, I know that if I don’t get in, I’ll prabably blame myself for not retaking the new SAT to get a higher math score. Do you really think 30 points (keep in mind that I’m submitting my ACT as well) is really going to make a difference in the decision? I know this may sound desperately neurotic, but I’m through putting on airs.

I, too, am desperately neurotic. No, 30 points will probably not make a difference. Your SAT score is very good even without those 30 points. Try to stop worrying. (I’m telling myself that, too.)

I don’t think it matters. If your percentiles work out, your 33 ACT could be equivalent to above a 1500 (depending on the spread). Don’t ask. I spent way too much time figuring this out.

dont worry, they dont care too much about the hard stats (SAT/ACT type stuff) anyways.

ugggh…im so worried i cant concentrate on my schoolwork…oh, well, ill find out next year…

Ria215, they will notice that you had an 800 in the writing SAT, even if it does not count officially.
