You seem to be a very strong candidate. Your rank may be a little low for Duke, but I think it’s going to come down to your essays. Duke rejects many valedictorians and 2400s, so you have to write an essay that’s going to make you stick out as a candidate.

Thanks, more ppl plz!

i forgot to add my school doesn’t rank and i’ll be applying ED

You have a good shot man, just write some good essays like ash said

Pretty good shot, esp if ED

thanks everyone keep on chancing me plz
i need some more insight

One out of every four Duke students has an 800 on Math…your stats are “expected.” You did a great job in high school…so the above advice is really the correct advice…ESSAYS and references matter. Be articulate, be illuminating…bring some heart into your application and some focus into your academic goals and make sure your references understand you and your particular interest in Duke. Do the Alum interview if you can. Get the peer reference into your file that may be a plus.
it is hard to stand out in a pool of applicants who in many regards …are equals. Represent something and bring it to campus…in your spirit, culture or quest.

thanks
can i get some more insights and chances plz

I think you’ll be fine… whatever happens happens. Do some research and show that you know about duke. Alumni interviews are good.
I’d say look into some clubs you’d consider joining, I know we have a running sports club here. so maybe look them up.
and definitely do the “why duke” essay… be authentic, comes down to your essays as well I think

good luck:)

ESSAYS ESSAYS ESSAYS! you got it bud! your credentials are all there. The admissions committee now wants to see if there is substance behind those credentials. I mentioned on another thread that my essays literally got me in to Duke. I was accepted off the Waitlist this year which held more than 3,400 students. The only way I appealed so excellently was by writing awesome essays, getting awesome recommendations, and submitting creative supplements. When my admissions representative called to admit me, she literally told me that my essays brought my application to life. My common app essay in addition to my “why Duke” essay and another essay I wrote for waitlist review really helped the committee get an idea of what I stood for as a person. I know you have it in you to write about something that interests you to the very core of your existence. That’s how important it is! If you want to get in to Duke, Show the admissions committee who you really are.

thanks, i have some pretty good essay ideas already, so i hope my essays will help
so what percent chance do you think i have for duke ed?

you have a really good chance at ED. Your interview and essay will determine a lot. Just know that the aide may not be to your liking since you mentioned that you’re not in need of any. If you get in, you’re blocked. Also, Try to submit some type of supplement if it’s relevant.

just wondering, can the peer recommendation be from a coach or teacher supervivisor for my club at school?

anyone???

lol my essays were essentially about krzyzewskiville, the blue devil mascot, and stuff like Duke Engage and the Focus Program. Show that you know a lot about the school’s programs and resources.

lol im writing about kville in my essay too

I wouldn’t write about krzyzewskiville, or the blue devil mascot, or Duke Engage, or the Focus Program just to show admissions committees that you know about the school. Chances are you know very little about those things. You haven’t experienced these things first hand, so it’s probable to say that you wouldn’t be able to give the BEST account of the affect of these programs/activities/icons. Write about something that is LIFE CHANGING, something that stimulates thought! Admissions counselors know all about those aforementioned things; show them something they don’t know…maybe who you (the applicant) are.
