Chances at Eugene Lang???

So, I just started my Senior year, and with EA deadlines fast approaching, my nerves are running a little high. My main problem is my EXTREMELY low gpa, a 2.8
This is mostly due to the terrible junior year I had. My freshman gpa was a 3.5 and my sophomore, a 3.0. But during my junior year, my friend was killed in a car accident. I became very depressed and my school forced me to go to an inpatient hospital program for around two months. By the time I got back to school, I had very little time to make up the work, and I was still pretty unstable, so I ended with a 1.7.
I took my SATs sophomore year and got a 1750, but I’m taking them again in the fall after spending the summer studying and taking a course. I’ve taken full practice tests and scored a 2100.
In terms of extra curricular, I am a member of the school marching and advanced concert band and I am in a very prestigious youth orchestra in my area. I have really good recommendations from my teachers. I was also very active in the Occupy Wall Street movement while it was going on in NYC, and I know that Lang looks for things like that :D. I am also going to apply early to Lang and I have a visit scheduled there for next week.
I had a lot going on, so my school work really fell behind, but my gpa didn’t result out of pure laziness. Lang is my absolute top choice right now. It offers the courses I want, its very close to home in a city that I know well. Its the perfect fit for me, so long as I can still get in with my GPA.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Make sure your recommendations and/or essay hold in account that you were very unstable for 2 months of your junior year; that being said, if you can get your GPA above 3 in time, it can become a safety, especially if you score 1900+ on the SAT next time around.
