im applyin ed to JHU, to cornell, columbia, MIt,tufts, umass, georgetown NU, and dartmouth
my major ive declared as philosophy/ hist
not a URM

I do not think a Georgetown versus John Hopkins competition is applicable. Both schools are excellent in distinct areas. I tend to view them as pieces that fit perfectly together in a larger puzzle. From what I have read, one should attend JHU if he/she intends to focus in the sciences, whereas one should attend Georgetown if he/she intends to focus in the humanities, foreign relations, and so on.

Although JHU is known for its sciences, it has a very reputable international affairs program (if you want to relate to GU). I don’t know how well its undergrad. program is but its grad. school School of Advanced International Affairs (SAIS) is one of the best in the country.

I had JHU on the shortlist for its IR program; eliminated it once I heard that the strength truly is in the graduate program and the core was too far-ranging for my interest. SFS really is #1 for a focused undergraduate degree.

As far as acceptance rates, I think Georgetown’s is lower, but it’s not like that says anything anyway. I know some super geniuses who got turned away at Hopkins.

gtown is more selective adn weights the SAT alot more than jhu does…i know two people who both got into jhu but were rejected/waitlisted at gtown with 1400+ SAT scores
