<p>If I get between 2300-2400 on my SATs
Extracurricular Activities include :
-Extensive ballet training (at Joffrey Ballet in NYC) since Middle School 10-30 hrs a week (depending on time of year)
-Ballroom dancing (at Dance Manhattan) since Freshman year of high school
-Different acting projects since middle school including 3 school musicals, 3 student films, one off-broadway play, and selective acting classes
-Many volunteer projects including a cycle with the Teen Service Team at New York Cares Organization, volunteering at local ambulance corps assissting EMTs and receiving special training, volunteering at the New York City Blood Center, volunteering at several walks, etc.
-I have been part of the Debate Team since the beginning of Junior year and won one tournament
-I have been a part of the Health Occupation Students Club at my school since the beginning of Junior Year
-I am part of the National Honors Society (Arista) at my school</p>
<p>The only thing is my GPA is only 94% (I don’t know what that is on a 4.0 scale) because I messed up my freshman year. I was having difficulty coping with the death of my grandmother and I intend to explain that in a letter to the schools I apply to.
But I really improved especially my junior year (my weighted average was 102.36%)
I have also taken 3 AP classes (2 of which I received a 4 on) and many honors classes.
I am also taking another 3 AP classes my senior year and all honors classes.
I go to my local high school as part of the Davinci Honors Science Program at Benjamin Cardozo Highschool in Queens, NY.
My ethnic background is Hispanic and white.
I want to be a doctor and will focus on premed (my major will be biochemistry)</p>
<p>What are my chances of getting into :
Harvard, Brown, UPenn, Cornell, Dartmouth, UChicago, Rice University, Duke University, or Boston College?
Which should I even bothering applying to?
Dartmouth is definitely my dream and number 1 choice.

<p>We can’t chance you, you don’t have test scores. The if regarding your scores implies that you are yet to take them, and a 2300 on the first try is very uncommon. Also you have not taken any subject tests and you need to take at least two of them if you choose to submit your SAT score as opposed to taking the ACT. Come back when you have scores.</p>
<p>I could have very well taken out the if and it would have made no difference. The reason I am putting 2300-2400 is because that is my score on my most recent college board practice test, which is usually an accurate predictor since it is a previous actual SAT test. I understand there are many people here who have already taken the SATs but answering a hypothetical situation will not harm anyone or anything so I don’t see the dilemma. I may also add that I do not appreciate your arrogance in any way and that this is a virtual site where it is most likely people act like they are something they are not all the time, so please do not act superior when I am only being honest to attain an honest answer. I must start to decide what schools I will apply to and since I have not yet taken my SATs I made a prediction in order to see what chances I have.
If a more sincere person would like reply to my post I would truly appreciate it.</p>
<p>Also I forget to mention I took the Physics and Spanish Subject tests.
I received 750 in both subjects.
I plan to retake both tests in November though.</p>
<p>I agree with artsygirl, this is August and you have’nt taken SAT, what are you waiting for. You are missing the point, nobody gets their best scores in their first atempt, so waiting till Christmas is doing you no good.</p>
<p>Ok, that changes things (you should have said that 2300 was your score on a practice test). We get a lot of people on here who have never taken a practice test of the SAT and expect to get great scores and end up not doing so, quickly you learn it is pointless to chance with hypothetical scores unless there is some basis for the estimate.</p>
<p>If I remember correctly your GPA will translate to something like a 3.6/3.7, which is on the low end for all ivies. Harvard is unlikely/unrealistic with those grades, because lets face it they get too many 4.0s with the same test scores to accept a 3.6 with no hooks. For all the other ivies you should have a chance, though your grades will hurt you.</p>
<p>Yeah I figured Harvard is way out of my league. Maybe I will just apply to the lower end Ivies like Cornell, UPenn, and Dartmouth. But what about UChicago? But thanks anyways for the first answer that actually answered the question :)</p>
<p>Awesome, I go to Francis Lewis HS lol. I think you have a fair chance at some but Harvard…not sure if you should apply there, they reject perfectionists! You’re in the DaVinci Honors Science program so that might help if you want to apply for a Science major. Is that what you’re interested in? If not then you should’ve picked the University Scholars program! Colleges find that very impressive (according to my guidance counselor at least). Anyways, good luck!</p>

<p>I heard from people on college confidential that it ranges +/- 50 from what they get on the actual test. </p>
<p>I think I can always aim for higher on subject tests, especially for competitive schools. I am taking AP physics this year so I hope it will improve my score and I want to take English lit subject test anyways. Thanks anyways</p>

<p>I still don’t really think your shot is Harvard is great. You have no hooks, which you sadly need for HYPS. Other then that you should be fine, don’t waste your time retaking the subject tests, take new ones that you think you will excel in instead (it looks better to have four 750s then two 800s, it shows that you are well-rounded in terms of academics).</p>
