Chances at NMH and Peddie

Since these schools have rolling admissions, I shot them an e-mail to see if space is available.

I will need full financial aid.

I’m sorry but it’s going to be slim. Full financial aid is hard considering they have limited aid and already exhausted their f/a budget

But I was thinking that students declined said schools, so funds were freed up.

These schools have FA candidates already on their waiting lists, waiting to see if funds become available. So, for a late applicant, getting FA is very tough.

Now, it’s not impossible . . . it just depends on how far you’re willing to look. What I’d recommend is that you call (or email) every school you can think of and ask them if (1) they’re accepting late applications and (2) if there’s a chance for financial aid. At this point (pre-April 10), the best answer you can probably expect to get to the FA question is “maybe.” And any school that says that will probably ask you to get back to them in mid-April and see how things look.

The only question is how serious you are . . . are you will to look at schools you’ve never heard of? Are you willing to look at single gender schools? Schools in southern states? etc., etc. etc. There are a LOT of schools out there . . . I’ve no doubt that one of them has a spot for you. The question is whether you’re willing to keep looking 'til you find it.

Oh, and by the way, please don’t post quite so much info about yourself . . . you really do not want people to be able to figure out who you are. :)

I’m willing to keep looking (: and I can’t believe I put my school’s name on here!! Oh well, I don’t think anyone from my schools gets on here, do you have any suggestions??? Single gender schools don’t bother me. They just have to be good academically :D

Hi woeishe - I’ve neither applied nor had much experience with the admissons process, but I’m guessing that unless, in an interview or over the phone, you can show that you are really passionate about going to these schools, it will be difficult for them to accept you. You SSAT score is really good - congradulations on that - but keep in mind that the first batch of applicants probably had just as impressive scores, and some better, so if you want to get in, you’re going to have to work twice as hard to show that you want to be there. I would say that you have a better chance at NMH, as I’ve heard that Peddie accepts few 10th graders (or 11th, if thats what you’re applying for) but then again I may be wrong. The financial aid thing may be a problem, as the best you can hope for is whatever remaining money they have from the original amount set for incoming students. If I were you, I would look around for merit scholarships from other organizations. The last thing I want to tell you is that do not, in any sense, regard these schools as your “second-choice schools”. If you are not genuinely excited to go to either NMH or Peddie, don’t even bother applying - go to a local high school - because there were many kids who dreamed of going to these places but never got the chance to.

Take a look at [Search Boarding Schools](<a href=“Boarding School Search Results”>Boarding School Search Results) . Even though these schools are listed as having rolling admissions after March 10th, it only means that historically they still have openings after April 10th, but not definetly. See what you can find - I personally like Darlington School in Georgia, Pomfret School in Connecticut, St. Andrew’s School in Delaware, or Gould Academy in Maine. Those are all coed, but I don’t know whether you’re a boy or girl, so I can’t suggest any single gender schools. I’m pretty sure there are more options for girls, though.

Good luck, and hope I helped.

Thanks guys. I contacted Trinity-Pawling yesterday and the admission officer said that it was possible and to call him tomorrow :D

Great job! Hope you get in :)
