Chances at Northwestern?

I didn’t take it twice. It’s actually a two-year course in my school district. Doesn’t mean we go slow or anything but the first year is actualy kind of a Pre-AP World class. I’m not Top 1% yet…You should really read more carefully and No, we don’t go by unweighted gpa really so you’re not really getting it. It doesn’t have significant grade inflation either…How doesn’t it correlate with my PSAT socres? You’re not making sense at all.

You say you are in the top 1%, but get SAT’s in the, what, 70’s? That is not correlating.

I don’t think you know what you are getting into here Ben, but whatever.

How do you have ‘projected’ ranks, you aren’t likely to suddenly shoot by half the school, even with 4.0’s you’ll be behind many.

im not making sense? first off, i said your school probly has deflation cuz even with a weighted gpa at 3.94 and top 1%, thats tough. most schools have a bunch over the 4.0 threshold in regards to weighted GPA.

makes sense now?

idk why you are attacking me. im one of the more favorable replies.

this makes the most sense to me.

I’m going to be as clear and concise as possible:
Fact #1: You contend that I don’t understand you, so I shouldn’t put in my two cents.
Fact #1A: You posted on a website asking for your chances from other people.
Fact #2: You contend that since you took the test as a sophomore, so we shouldn’t be able to accurately evaluate what your potential SAT score could be.
Fact #2A: You provide your sophomore test score as information that we are supposed to accurately evaluate you on.
Fact #3: You contend that I clearly can’t accurately evaluate you, because I don’t know anything.
Fact #3A: I got in to Northwestern. So I know the SATs, GPA, extra-currics, and essays that do get students in.
Fact #3B: I know a lot of people that go to Northwestern. So I know a lot of other SAT, GPA, extra-curric, essay combinations that also get students in.
Fact #4: You accuse me of being arrogant and condescending.
Fact #4A: I know the culture and attitudes of students that succeed (and not just in the academic sense) at Northwestern.
Fact #5: I, apparently, have a fan club.
Fact #5A: I don’t particularly care who likes or dislikes me. I put in my two cents.
Fact #5B: Whether you like me or not, I’m a resource. I am making myself available to current, accepted, and applying students. I have been through the process and know some hints and tips that I wish I knew when I applied.
Fact #5C: You think that someone’s value as a resource is contingent and directly correlated to how much they agree with you or say what you want to hear.
Fact #5D: (see Fact #5C) The world doesn’t work that way.

“you do not know anything that relates to what kind of chances I have. You don’t know anything about me so don’t judge me.”

Lol, what a joke you are… seriously though no one gets scores in the 500’s, re-take them if you dont want the adcoms literally laughing at your application as they toss it in the auto-reject pile.

No offense but you are KILLING your school’s cred by being highly ranked. I feel bad for the other kids from your school applying to NU.

One more thing… I strongly advise you to try EXTREMELY hard to not let your personality come through in your essays.

This thread makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

please do let your personality come through on your essays. i’d rather have it come through there and you get rejected than have it come through on the northwestern social scene.

taromakino, don’t be a snob. Nobody likes a snob or a wise guy…

That’s not true. Everyone loves a wise guy, if TV has taught me anything. And he’s really not being snobbish…

No chance.

haha, let’s leave this poor kid alone, this thread is three pages, i’m sure there are other people on these boards with questions about northwestern that would be much better served than nyyben

lol, i agree.

lol, that’s really funny!

lol nyyben. Thankfully you have a big attitude to go along with those low test scores. You don’t have a chance at NW, try university of pheonix.

low test scores? Not really. I do have a chance.

You really don’t think you have low test scores? Look it up, buddy. You’re 500 points away. Honestly, your twisted logic is beyond priceless.
I’d say your chances of you getting your test scores to NU’s median by the time you apply are roughly as good as the chances that you actually are a nice, socially-adjusted kid (hint: this means I doubt that either are true).

It’s pointless to explain to you why you have a lot of work to do because you are just too young and haven’t started the college process in earnest. Do me a favor, please keep me updated on how everything turns out. I am not being sarcastic when I say that there is NO shame in going to a reputable state school or private equivalent.
