no one has scores in the 500s

Keyboarding for College and Beyond: A
is this a typing class? lol interesting course name if it is

what test scores do you want me to retake exactly? a lot of people have scores in the 500’s, get your head out of your *** Of course it’s a typing class if it has the word “keyboarding” in it. Idiot.

^^ what is wrong with you… i hope you don’t get in.

and no, hardly anyone has scores in the 500s… especially not white males from long island

Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos; (and this was several years ago, test scores have risen since):

SAT math scores over 600: 94%
SAT verbal scores over 600: 92%

My guess: He’s confused Northeastern with Northwestern.

And ditto elsijfdl.

I’m confused how someone with your class rank can have SUCH poor scores.

On another note though, is your academic bowl Academic Challenge? Did you go to the Half-Hollow Hills tourney? If so, what rank did your school place. This is purely from personal interest, not necesarily related to your chances o_o

Sheesh. Don’t get so offended. People are just telling you what your chances are realistically. And I’m guessing that you misread and thought this was a NorthEASTERN forum?

Yea, you probably won’t be headed to Northwestern…that is, if you don’t clean up your attitude…and your scores.

you’re going to be a junior so you have tons of time to improve your SAT. youve only taken the PSAT sophmore year so improvement is certain next year. i think your app is good besides the scores. you probably have an average chance for RD(around 15-20%) if you get average NU SAT scores.

It took 8 posts for someone to give me a reasoned answer. I applaud you, ridewitbd24.

yeah, what he said. somewhere between 1360 and 1500 (out of 1600) is about average for northwestern. you get in there, and you’ll have a decent shot. SATII’s are a little low too.

Ben, I want to put this as nicely as possible: you have a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGG way to getting your standardized test scores even close to where they need to be for you to not be an automatic reject. Your math grades and PSAT math section are exceedingly low.
Considering that you’ve done nothing but show absolute arrogance and rudeness, i fear another problem. Your self-serving attitude has no place at Northwestern. NU is a place for gifted human beings for come together in a mutual living-learning environment. Human beings, Ben. Not individuals that only live to advance their own goals. Not animals that take whatever they can. Not hermits who reject the assistance and advice of those who have walked before them.
You’d be wise to focus on your emotions first, then your intellect.

I <3 CerebralAssassin fan club, starting now!

They are not exceedingly low…The PSAT in Sophomore year is a poor indicator as well., especially when It’s taken in Sophomore year with little preparation. You know nothing about my emotions are intellect so don’t even try. Don’t give me that snobby attitude like you’re better than me because I won’t stand for your nasty behavior. Northwestern is not just for “gifted” people but for people who have worked hard all through out high school and done well so that they can have a good education. I am not an automatic reject. You have not given me any help and you have not been nice to me. CerebralAssassin, you do not know anything that relates to what kind of chances I have. You don’t know anything about me so don’t judge me. Get it?

Well, he knows exactly as much as everyone else on this forum whom you’ve asked to give you an estimate of your chances. So…

nyyben, an aside. I find cerebral ASSASSin to be pompous and arrogant, too. I would not be invited and would not want to join arbiter213’s fan club.

Having said that, your scores - at this point in time - are not as high as they need to be for NU, but you have time to improve them.

if you feel this way, why in the world would you post a chances thread asking people to evaluate you?

maybe you should have made the title “only tell me what you think about my chances if it’s favorable”

Sorry, most people score much higher, PSAT soph and junior.

Your test scores are low. Your class rank is high. Your EC’s, essays, and that all are unknown.

You could get in. Especially with better testing. However, you have areas to work on to be sure.

I don’t see it happening, but you have a whole year to bring up those scores to at least 2100 (about average). 400 some points though? I estimate that to be around 40 practice tests…math is pretty easy to raise though

if you dont want judgement, dont bother to ask us for chances. OK, so we know “nothing” about your chances? then dont waste our time and ask us. As of right now, your application is not impressive. your EC’s are alright, nothing that overcomes your PSAT scores. even as a sophomore, 165 is nothing to brag about. i worked my butt off when my PSAT was a 1960 in my sophomore year and i got it up to a 2290. its easily possible for you to bring your scores up to average NU level, but it will take some effort. just work on those areas and continue to be a good student. i am surprised, in a way, though, that you’re in the top 1% of the your class when your unweighted GPA is 3.74. 3.74 is good, i mean, but top 1% of the school? anyways, just work on the scores, and your shot in getting in will be solid.

^^thats what makes me confused as well. top 1% with a 3.74 must mean the school has significant grade deflation, making it tough. but this doesnt correlate at all with his PSAT scores. i just dont get it. why in the hell did you take AP World History twice??
