chances at Northwestern

I want to get into a need-blind college like Northwestern. Do I have chances for getting in (math major)?

SAT score- 2250 (math800, reading 760, writing690)
11th grade scores- Mostly A’s
10th grade scores- quite low (my 10th grade school system had neither grades nor GPAs)
Ethnicity- Asian and residence- India (although I am not an international applicant)
The recommendations will be very good.

Extra-curriculars-
Selection for a couple of national seminars on graduate mathematics
(Representation Theory, Commutative Algebra, Topology)
The indian equivalent of the USAMO in grades 10th and 11th (but not selected for the IMO team)
the RMO in grades 9th and 10th (which is more or less similar to the AIME)

Some Community Service

Could anyone tell me if I have chances for getting into Northwestern?

Of course you have a chance. No one on here can tell you what your chances are, because at the elite college level, at one point, there are so many qualified applicants that it becomes a lottery.

I agree with Pizzagirl.

I don’t know if this happens at NU, and I don’t even know if this is true, but I have heard that some elite schools select out the athletes, a needed tuba player, and the obvious “must have” applicants because they are so academically desireable.

Once they have their “good to go” pile of applications, they randomly pick from the stack.

This could be an urban legend, but it is quite possible that it does come to something like that. Sooo many qualified applicants and a limited number of available spots.

Good luck.

It’s no more than an urban legend.

Your chances are excellent.
