Hey all, Im wondering if I have a genuinely high acceptance chance for NYU as a junior.
I have a 3.77 UW (All IB, HL math, HL LIT, HL HOTA, along with dual enrollment in AP macro and micro Econ.)
My SAT is decent, a 1500.
As per my ECs, I think I am well set:
Internship at fifth third bank,
Mentorship with the head trader at Pershing square,
Built and scaled 2 successful import businesses,
LOR from the head trader at Pershing square, possibly one from Bill Ackman, id estimate a 70% chance.
Ive won multiple coding and trading competitions with a few thousand applicants.
Started a non profit,
Research paper on risk management and its effect on the markets.
Documented trade journal showing 400% return in 18 months with low drawdowns and risk.
Multiple passion projects, one being a 14,000 line python algorithm that yields a 77% return on most technology sector tickers, outperforming the SnP500, and most hedge funds. (But again, I dont think it’s very scalable, im only working with an around 30,000 in my personal account.)
I have multiple projects tied to my internship,
I have real experience on the trading floor of the bank of Montreal, from one of my mentors.
fluent in python and C#,
I have a public Github domain where I post a lot of Back testing tools and algorithms that I’ve made,
I manage a significant portion of my families retirement fund.
Im sure there’s some other stuff I’m missing. Of course my essay will be great, I have 0 financial aid, and I would be applying ED. Is there a high chance I get accepted? Thank ya’ll!
sorry, I should have included this, I am not graduating early, I am just planning for the future. A little update, My UW GPA is actually a 3.9 I also striated the Python coding and trading clubs at my school. I don’t qualify for any financial aid, and I won’t really need to worry about the 90k per year, I am able to get really low interests loans, even then I will have paid most of my tuition, I have most of it saved up already. Sorry for the misunderstandings!
The businesses are largely informal, one being an import business where I would buy bulk e-bikes from China and resell for a profit, I did 50k revenue and 23k profit. With that said, there was no LLC or any official documents aside from my receipts and messages with customers. My second business was far less successful, it was a clothing brand catering to e motorcycle riders, Tslgear .com. This did 5k in revenue and 2200 in profit. Would this still look good on my resume? And how would I go about proving something like this without any official LLC’s/legal documents.
I’d say yes. No one is asking for documentation. They might che k your website if you list. That’s why Babson might be a great fit. You are entrepreneurial. And it’s a bit less selective but still very much so.
My goal is to start a hedge fund, Stern is extraordinary to have on a rep sheet for future investing. I will absolutely take a look at Babson though, Thank you!
Not saying not to go to NYU but you have to get in. Btw on a per capita basis, it’s great but not as great as you suspect. It’s bigger hence the overall quantity is higher. What are your backups? That’s why I noted Babson
I find it difficult to believe that they will ask for my tax documents for this, either way my dad has all the documented stuff from it all. Should I show this proof in my app or wait for them to ask for it? I have receipts for $26,000 when buying the bikes, and photos of the conversations with customers and Zelle receipts from payment.
