Chances at NYU Stern.

Going to be a Junior in High School next year.
Just looking to get a rough estimate of the marks I need to achieve this year, and next year.

I live in the suburbs of New York. Not too far from Manhattan.

No SATs/SATIIs/ACTs. As for, I am taking them this year.

I am on the path to getting my Advanced Regents Diploma.

Math Scores - I have been up and down with them for the past few years, averaging a low 80s. However, on the Math A regents I scored an 89, and on the Math B regnets I scored an 85. Both were mastery.

This year I have taken Honors History. Which, on the Global regents I scored a 96.

Took Language for the 3 required years, earned an 83 on the regents. I did poorly. Italian is not my strongest subject.

Bio was fine. I scored an 83, as well. I blanked out on half the test. But, oh well.

As for classes I am taking this year - AP Accounting, Pre-calc, US History Honors, Regents Chem, and English 11.

Nothing “amazing”. But, I am aiming for mid to high 90s in all.

I do not have any current extra activities or anything. HOWEVER, I ran my own business for two years (game/website). Worked with several thousands of dollars, had a whole fleet of staff, thousands of members, hundreds of thousands daily pageviews - It was a very successful site. I shut it down, due to depression. :x

I am hoping on joining Interact, or Yearbook this year. Sports aren’t exactly my thing.

Essay writing is pretty solid. If you give me some diet coke and a few hours, you’ll have a perfect essay. Haha.

-x-

With that being said… What do you think I need to work on? And, where would I stand for a chance to get into NYU Stern?

Get good sat1 and sat2 scores. Do more ec’s. Get better grades.

You haven’t given us much too look at no SAT’s etc. Repost later in the fall.

Alright. Thank you guys. :)

Also, I Just got an SAT Class thing in the mail today. It’s bolding that over the past thirty years they’ve helped students increase their score 150 points or higher. $400. Worth it?

And, What constitutes as good SAT1 and SAT2 grades?

Just try to get the highest grades possible, and take AP classes if your school offers. Come back and post after you take SAT I/SAT II’s and you’ll probably have a better idea.

As for the SAT class, only you can tell. My friend paid $1,000 for a Kaplan course, the teacher was terrible, and the whole class dropped out and got a refund - however, they no longer had a class to prep for the test.
I paid $400 for a class taught by 2 teachers from my school who I know and like, and my score went up 300 points - I only had to take the SAT once.

So if you think you need the course, take it, but you may or may not get your money’s worth.
