Chances at Oxford College of Emory University?

<p>Stats:</p>

<p>GPA: 3.32 UW…after this semester it should be a 3.38-3.40</p>

<p>ACT: very disappointed</p>

<p>First time: 26 composite, 29 English, 24 math, 24 science, 28 reading.</p>

<p>December: 26 composite (again -.-), 22 English (ouch), 25 math, 26 science, 30 reading.</p>

<p>Superscored that’s a 28 composite, but they don’t super score… :frowning: The admissions counselor just told me to submit both test. I don’t know what happened on english…I scored higher in every subject but bombed English?!</p>

<p>SAT Bio M: 670</p>

<p>College GPA: 4.0 with 9 credits…might be a 3.75 at the end of the semester due to English…I’m borderline A and B in that class. By the time I graduate I will have 22 credit hours (non-AP) and 30 (including AP Chem)</p>

<p>Essay: Awesome I heard…</p>

<p>Letters of Recomendation from counselor talks about how I procrastinated and slack off, but how I have potential to do great…or at least that’s what I think it says. :/</p>

<p>Pending recommendation from teacher…</p>

<p>EC’s: National Spanish Honors Society, National Science Honors Society, HOSA, Christian Club, Teen Community Emergency Response Team, Habitat for Humanity Volunteer…I’m also a lifeguard…and just for the heck of it I finished dental assistant training…</p>

<p>Also, I’m graduating a year early…</p>

<p>Umm…I’m an African American male…live in Texas…my rank is in the top 25%…I take a very demanding curriculum…</p>

<p>Btw…should I apply rolling admission and try to get my ACT up in Feb, or should I just go ahead and apply? </p>

<p>gpa is okay. ACT is way too low. go retake it. being in the top 25% doesnt help at all… BUT, if you have a really good essay and show A LOT of interest, you might get in… plus you are urm so that should help a little. just make sure you can fill as much boxes under the supplement as you can, and go visit!</p>

<p>I think Emory83 is referring to the Atlanta campus. The ACT 25th-75 percentile range for last year’s incoming Oxford class was 25-29. The average GPA was a 3.54. They recalculate GPA, so you might want to do that (<a href=“http://oxford.emory.edu/admission/gpa_calculator/[/url]”>http://oxford.emory.edu/admission/gpa_calculator/&lt;/a&gt;) your recalculated GPA will probably be higher.</p>

<p>If I were you, I’d apply RD. If you’ve demonstrated interest in Emory/Oxford, I’d say Oxford is a high match. Good luck!</p>

<p>Thanks! Yeah…I’m an early graduate. Does that help qualify my 25 Math section at all? I’m in precal now, so we haven’t even got to triginometry yet…If I finished precal, I think I would have no problem scoring a 27-30 on that section.</p>

<p>I don’t think there’s a need to “qualify” your math score–or any of scores, for that matter. As for scoring higher after pre-cal, that’s part of the price of graduating early, in your case.</p>

<p>Hey, what part of Texas are you from? I’m in Houston and I’m very likely to end up at Oxford. Also, you have a decent GPA and solid ECs, but I would retake the ACT or take the SAT and shoot for a 30/2000+. If you visit, that will definitely help. Good luck.</p>

<p>I’m in spring! :stuck_out_tongue: and yeah…I can aim that high if I get in a few more practice test. I took one with no time limit and scored a 32 (31.5)…but I’m bad with the timing (especially on reading), so idkkkk…I’m too busy to take a bunch of practice test though.</p>
