Chances at Princeton?

Hey,

I’m currently a junior in high school, and I was wondering if anyone could let me know if I have a realistic shot at Princeton. I know these grades aren’t as top notch as some applicants, but there is a chance that I will be recruited for water polo. How much does being a recruit help?

Thanks!

If you are recruited you are in. If not I would say it is highly unlikely.

The low junior grades are not good at all … junior year is the most important year. Seeing as you have kind of boring ECs, and nothing to really set you apart, I would say your chances are kind of low. Perhaps if you somehow rectify those grades, then spice up your ECs, then you may have a better chance.

right now, your only hope is athletics. if you can get to Captain of sports teams, then there is still hope
Did you take advanced or AP courses? "cause if you haven’t, that is a really bad sign for the college admissions staff

All those conference invites are meaningless.

If you’re recruited, they often times don’t care about you’re smarts, and grades do nothing to get you recruited.

Do somthing totally outrageous, think of somthing thats all you.

whoa… yea junior year with majority of b’s isn’t good…

Unless there are major personal factors, the B’s in junior year are a real problem at schools with single-digit admit rates. Certainly keep Princeton on as a reach, but you really need to start thinking about matches and safeties.

And - remember that your grades are your top priority! Ditch an EC if you have to.

ya… i started dropping ec’s cuz of my 8 classes i had 2 b’s… even that set off an alarm

I am really disappointed in my grades this year. I knew going into this year that I would be very hard pressed to maintain grades as well as all of my extra curriculars, but I accepted the challenge, and find myself regretting it. However, from what I have been hearing, if you are recruited, you have a much a higher chance of being accepted. Is this really true? If so, what standards are admissions officers willing to drop athletes to in order to maintain competitive athletic teams as well as fostering an intellectual environment? Thanks!
