Chances at some Callie schools

Soph Gpa of 3.0----------but taking over some bad classes(should raise gpa significantly)
Junior gpa 3.9
More extra curriculars than will power to type on this page
Private School
Sat1 1830…taking over
yet to take subject tests
I am also ESL…Moved here when I was younger…trilingual

What are my chances for UC’s, Santa Clara, Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State…and lol Stanford(just cuz my dad is a proffessor there)

Those soph classes you’re taking over – your acceptance to UCs will be based on your doing well. If you got any D’s, and don’t raise them when you retake them, then you’re pretty much not going to get into any of the better UCs. Your SAT actually isn’t bad for UCs, Santa Clara, or either of the CSUs - I have a friend going to Berkeley, who also got into UCLA, whose SATs were only 1600.

Stanford… well, that’s a different story. I’m not sure if your dad being a prof there will be of any bonus (or much bonus, at any rate).

Ya my soph gpa is that low becuase I had a D in Chem(■■■■■■■■ teacher…fired for doing cocaine) I shuold do pretty well in cuz I have A’s in Ap bio…But what UC’s do you think are match?

Probably any of them except the most selective: Cal, LA, San Diego. Just based on the trends at my own school. And Cal Poly is kind of iffy, too. Just the fact that you had to retake the course at all is kind of a red flag to most schools, I think.

artem:

UCB/UCLA: Super Reach
UCSD: Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Slight Reach
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Match

i agree with ^

Merced, River,Santa Bar are possibilities
The rest are doubtful…

I won’t even begin about Stanford…

I wouldn’t be so quick to be negative, guys. Tons of kids I know with lower GPAs and SATs have gotten into the top UCs, including Cal.

^ URM im sure.

Actually, no. None of the kids to whom I was referring are URMs. They’re white or Asian. They wrote good essays, though, and had solid ECs.
