help please

Some of those aren’t really T2 schools.

Oh my goodness… I’m sorry but these stats are way too low for USC and UCLA…

i know my GPA kinds sucks but im at a prep school that doesnt inflate at all and there are kids here who have 3.5 who go to Vanderbilt and NYU. both of those were my two reaches too

No, seriously, there were kids from my son’s high school that were turned down with much higher stats - 4.3, 3 year lettermen, year book, organized a tooth brush drive to Africa and 2100+ on the SAT - turned down… 4.2, senior class President, 4 years student government, 32 ACT, youth commission, two sport athlete - turned down…

I don’t care whether you are from a prep school or not, these stats are too low for SC and UCLA.

That being said, don’t take my word for it. Apply and see what happens. That’s all you can do anyhow. You asked about your chances, and I think they are on the low side for those two school.s

any other opinions on the other schools i mentioned? clearly not in the same class as those two schools.

UMich, UCLA, USC, and UT-A aren’t tier 2 schools. Those are all schools that are difficult to get into.

Because of your GPA, all those schools are reaches for you.

What is your major and intended career?

They are also all expensive. What is your budget? Will your parents pay $45k - 55k for whatever school you get accepted to?

You need some match schools and some financial safety schools.

If you don’t know how much your parents will pay, then ask. That will largely determine where you should apply.

from the Babson website:

“The admission process at Babson is highly competitive. For the Class of 2012, we received 4,318 applications and admitted 35% of them. On average, admitted students had high school grades of A-/B+, ranked in the Top 10-15% of their classes, and earned SAT scores from 1810-2090 (this range represents the middle 50% range of admitted students’ averages).”

Are you in the top 10% of your class with a 3.17 GPA?

From the Univ. of Miami website:

Typical freshman class profile:
• Number of incoming freshmen: 2,000
• Approximately 83% live on campus
• Approximately 2/3 are in the top 10% of their class
• Approximately half of the new freshmen graduated in the top 5% of their class
• Average weighted GPA: 4.2
