The only negative I can think of is that I got a few A-'s my last trimester of Junior year. Will this hurt me?

Chances at places like Princeton, Georgetown, Amherst, Cornell, Dartmouth, UVA, W&M, Williams, Etc.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I’m from the west

That Water Conservation Bill is highly impressive. I think you’ll get into all of them except Dartmouth, Cornell and Princeton which are reaches for everyone.

But even them, you have a great shot at. Talk to your Lacrosse coaches at those schools if you’re good enough

Thank you, do you think those few A minues last tri of Junior year will hurt me significantly?

significantly? no? affect it? yes However don’t worry about it, if you apply to schoosl like UMich then they recalculate all scores getting rid of all +/- deviations and recalculating core classes on a 4.0 scale. no worries =]

Bump. help please!

I’m pretty sure you’re a good match for most of those schools. Hard to judge though because of how prestigious some are. Wouldn’t worry about the A- at all. Which session of NYLC did u go to?? Pretty sweet that u wrote a bill.

Thanks, I went to the Nov. D.C Session. Bump plz :)

Bumpers please!

bump 10char

I know someone who was class president, had a 3.6 GPA, 2050 SAT scores, and got into princeton…
unlike you he didnt write a water conservation bill or play for the lacrosse team too…
I think you have a pretty good chance for princeton!! and the other ivies prolly

I’m more interested in the Deputy Campaign Manager status. Being a very experienced political worker myself, I’m interested in this - do you mean you were the full Deputy Campaign Manager for a congressional campaign, as in one who is paid the big bucks and does all the real work? If so, that’s quite impressive. If that’s true I’m sure you have a few newspaper articles about you, mabye think about sending them in too.

As a side note, based on your current experience and trends I can easily see you someday becoming a State Assemblyman or City Councilman (I don’t feel that you would fit as a Mayor or administrator). Mabye someday we’ll meet each other in the halls of a State Legislature :P

Thank you very much for the kind words. The position has actually been for my state House district, not congressional - but I hope to be there someday  I’m actually quite interested in serving in my state house in a few years.

On a side note to everybody, do you think the fact that I recieved a few A minues and a B in Photo 3rd tri junior year will significantly hurt my chances?

I still have a 4.2 Cum and 3.95 UW.

Ace, you are a solid candidate for the top schools, but they are truly reaches for everybody. What courses have you taken? What colleges do kids from your high school go? What is your class rank? What AP exams have you take?

Most high schools just send the year average grades to the colleges. They will not see trimester or quarter or even semester grades (except senior year). Ask to see what your high school will be sending out to the colleges.

I go to the most prestigious private school in my state, we have HYPSBPDC all the time. I’ve taken the most rigorous courses offered, and my APs will be US History, Physics, Gov, English, Calculus, Chemistry, and Economics. I’ve gotten 5s on all of my exams so far. I’m #1 in my class, though we don’t do rankings so I guess top 10%. My school sends grades showing each trimester by the way.

-psst- be sure to choose Dartmouth. =]
