Chances at UCs and some others..help!

<p>Okay, thanks in advance for all responses. I’m a Vietnamese-American born in Vietnam who immigrated over as a toddler. I’m ELC-less because my counselors aren’t too competent and never reminded any of us to return a parent consent slip. Here are the stats…</p>

<p>Weighted GPA: 4.53
UW: 4.00
UC weighted: 4.67 (seems high, counselors probably messed up)
rank: 2/595 (Ah, there’s no where on the UC app to put rank down…and I’m ELC-less, too!!)</p>

<p>SAT I: 660V 760M = 1420 (retaking in dec…not expecting much higher lol)
SAT II: 670writing 690mathiic 690 ushistory</p>

<p>AP:
Calc AB: 4
US hist: 3
Physics: 2
I hate tests ;(</p>

<p>ECs:
-Varsity Men’s Tennis (9th-12th): Co-Captain (11th, 12th). Provide moral support, etc.
-Asian Pacific Islander’s Club (9th-12th): Events Coordinator (10-11th) and Secretary (12th).<br>
-Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society (basically all my life…since 2nd grade): Youth leader on prayer and leadership team. Vietnamese is taught here; Bible studies are held to reinforce Christian morals and beliefs.
-Link Crew Leader (11-12th): Help Freshman associate and integrate into the high school. On the Commitee that sets all the events up.
-ASB Academic Awards Commissioner (12th): Set up and coordinate the bi-annual awards ceremony for students with a 3.67 or higher. Facilitated in a bunch of other school activities, homecoming and stuff.
-Mathletes club (10-12th): Competed in math competitions between high schools in the area (14+ schools total).</p>

<p>Community service:
-Church-related: I participated in beautification projects, set up of fundraisers, set up of the bi-annual Vietnamese festival, and basically any related church activity. I am also an altar boy. Roughly 150+ hours.
-Varsity Women’s team manager (10th and 12th grade): I volunteered two hours after school everyday during their season to facilitate and help with the women’s team practice sessions. I privately helped some of the less experienced tennis players.
-AVID Mentor (12th): I tutor students from the 9th grade AVID class at least 2 hrs a week. </p>

<p>Work:
-Tennis Racquet Re-Stringing (10th-12th): I restring tennis racquets that need their strings replaced to help pay for high school related expenses.
-Paid Tutor (10th): Tutored a student in Algebra II for a period of 3 months to boost his grade from a D to a B. </p>

<p>Awards:
BS awards for academic and sports stuff. Nothing special. </p>

<p>Sorry if that was boring…I copied most of it off of a think i wrote for my teachers that are writing letters of rec for privates. </p>

<p>What are my chances at:

<p>bumpity bump bump</p>

<p>nothing more? ;(</p>

<p>dont worry too much about elc, it helps but it can’t hurt you. your ap scores and sat II scores are a little low, colleges might be wondering why a 4.0 student cant get above a 4 on an ap test. from your gpa though, you will get into most of those schools.</p>

<p>Yeah, I was looking at UC Davis’s comprehensive review site (<a href=“http://why.ucdavis.edu/admissions/froshAppCritSelProc.cfm[/url]”>http://why.ucdavis.edu/admissions/froshAppCritSelProc.cfm&lt;/a&gt;) and they give a good 1000 points out of 14000 for being in ELC. I don’t know about the other schools, but it kills me that just because the counselors sort of screwed up the transcripts, I’m robbed of easy points.</p>

<p>Bumping this waay up, I’ve turned in the apps and I feel relieved, but my thread hasn’t gotten many posts ;(</p>

<p>iamhung,
i’m going to debunk the common CC myth:
getting more posts on a thread WILL NOT increase your chances at colleges</p>

<p>good luck though. you seem to be a strong candidate for all the schools mentioned</p>

<p>You’re definitely in for all of the UC’s. Good luck in getting in and on the SATs!</p>

<p>Thanks! I’m not sure why everyone thinks I’d get into most of the schools; most of the other ‘what are my chances’ threads for UCs have other students berating the hell out of each other, even when their stats are qute high! Yeah, hopefully I can improve on my SATs (damn, should have studied lol)</p>
