Chances at UCSD please

Goal: UCSD for psychology
That’s all I want

Class Rank: At least Top 10% (possibly Top 4%)
UW GPA: 3.67 (I’m really worried about that)
UC GPA: 4.1
California Resident
Very Competitive High School
SAT: 2030
SAT 2: Math 2 - 700, World History - 670
9 AP classes taken (extremely tough courseload)
Above average extracurriculars including 150+ volunteer hours, 3 part-time jobs, office position in club, piano
I believe I will have an average essay (not planning on spending that much time on it)
Alumni Parent (will that even help?)
Regular donations to UCSD for over 10 years (my dad just told me and I dont know if that helps)

Please tell me the percent chance of me getting in! Thanks so much!

i had around the same stats…sat 2050, acts 31…and i am oos and i got in but i also had unweighted 3.95. and with legacy and stuff you should get in. your scores are in range. and percent chance…hmm i’ll say 70% (GPA is a bit of a problem)

there shouldn’t be any problem. Your stats are competitive enough to get into UCSD, and if you add the fact that one of your parents was an alumni, and regularly donated for 10 years, you should be in with no problem at all. I will be very surprised if you don’t get in.

one word of caution: it appears to me you’re taking the essay rather lightly.
Do NOT make this mistake. The essay is one of the most important factors in college admissions. I’ve seen many people who should have, and would have, gotten into colleges without a problem, but totally BSed their essay. Invest some time into the essay.

I didn’t realize the essay was that important for UCs? I guess I’ll spend a lot longer on it and have everyone I know proofread it.
Ok thanks!

And I’m not even sure if I should add on my application that I’ve donated to UCSD. It’s only added up to a few thousand and I don’t want to feel like I’m buying my way into that school.

anyone else? please be harsh. i want to be realistic.

I think that you have a pretty high chance of getting in.
A lot of my friends this year got into UCSD with about the same grades and course load as yours.

UCs don’t consider alumni relations, I don’t think. I think you have a good chance though, maybe at 75-80%.
