I wrote and published a science fiction novel on Amazon’s self-publishing service. I am currently in the process of writing two more.

I know that the most recent SAT essay score isn’t too great. However, that essay was essentially the same quality as the previous two I wrote. How much will they affect my chances of getting into UCSD or any other UCs?

In addition, what would be some reach schools I may have a chance at being accepted to?

Your personal insight essays will have more of an impact than your SAT essay. You look like a competitive applicant but nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the UC’s. Your SAT scores and ACT score put youbwithin range for all the UC’s.
Depending upon major, add UCB/UCLA/USC and/ or Cal Poly SLO.
For privates, take a look at the Claremont Colleges.
Best of luck and I assume SDSU is a safety?
