Chances at USC/LMU

Hello Everyone:

I am a second year California Community College Student, enrolled in 18 academic units and interning as a Legal Assistant in downtown my city. I chose not to attend UOP (University of Pacific) and attend JC to save $$$. I am wondering what my chances are to get into a good tier private school in the LA area, even though I messed up my first year at JC.

My first year at Junior College I ended up with 3 Fs, 3 Ws and only a handful of solid transferable units. After getting past some tough times I kicked it into gear this past summer and retook 3 classes that I failed, and received As. Motivated as ever, I am trying to mend my previous ‘**** ups’ and wanted to get a general idea on whether its possible to even stand a chance at a top tier private college down in LA.

I do know that USC does not omit the lesser grades for retaken classes, nor do they honor other colleges’ academic “renewal/forgiveness” programs. Thus, my raw transfer GPA will be pretty ugly. However, I do know that they will consider trends of grades on transcripts.

I will also be submitting my HS profile, in which I attended several high schools due to divorce issues early on, and even attended boarding school abroad for a semester. Heres a bit of general information on my HS and college profile.

HS:
GPA: ~3.3
EC: Key Club International, Frosh Basketball, Debate, Studied Abroad
Volunteer Experience: Medical Hospital
Work Experience: Customer Service, Medical Office, Law Firm

SAT: Math 620 Reading 500 Writing 620

College:

Application GPA ~2.6
Transfer GPA ~3.1
Internship: Legal Assitant

Thanks for your opinions…

same boat USC does not honor academic renewal so I have a 2.8.
