Northwestern
Columbia
UVA

Match:
William and Mary
NYU
BC

Saftey:
UConn
BU
Union

Also, feel free to suggest any other schools to look at. I’m not allowed to go any further south than Virginia and any further west than Illinois, and am looking for medium to larger sized schools, if that helps. Thanks!

anyone? i will ~chance back

I think that your assessment of yourself is accurate. It’s difficult for me to suggest alternative schools though, without knowing a few things. Does religion factor into your decision? What does medium to large schools mean to you? 20 to 30,000? Do you have a specific major you have in mind? I think that as soon as we know that we will be able to offer some suggestions. However, to be honest, I think your list of schools is good. Are you not set on one school (meaning planning to apply ED) or are you still deciding? Regardless of what you decide to do though, good luck!

You have a pretty good list. I wonder why you have large research universities if you want to major in the liberal arts? Why don’t you apply to Middlebury, or other equivalent LAC’s.

Wartsandall - William and Mary is my first choice at the moment, and I will most likely apply there ED, but my mom and I are going on a road trip in August to look at about a dozen more schools, so not everything it set in stone. Religion doesn’t factor in at all, in fact, I’d rather go to a less religious school. The religion aspect was one of the reasons I did not like Villanova. And as for size, I prefer schools aobe 5,000 undergrads. In terms of my major, right now I’m between political science and psychology, but I really have no idea. Thanks for your help!

Nuclear - I prefer schools in or near cities or large towns, as well as schools with more than 5,000 students, which ruled out a lot of the LACs. Thank you, though.

If you’ve got a 3.9+ and you’re only Top 20% in your school, that’s a pretty huge grade inflation curve.

I’m not really sure what you mean. Because my school doesn’t rank, I’m sort of just going on this graph that they handed out with the amount of kids in each GPA range. They do give .5 points for honors and 1 point for AP classes, so that may have something to do with it?

I love william and mary because the college atmosphere is so quaint and I love the cobblestone, farmer market, and such. William and Mary is extremely hard for oos students though.

Yeah, I realize OOS makes it much, much harder. But they’ve accepted a few kids each year from my school, and I drove down for an interview, so I think I have a pretty good shot.

okay anyone else?

W&M has higher SAT scores, lower admit ratio and is a smaller school, thus accepts fewer people, than Uvirginia.
