I am a rising high school senior, and I am intending on applying early to Wash U. I go to Phillips Exeter, and my GPA is a 10/11 (top 20% in class). I have shown interest multiple times (I attended an info session in Boston, I talked to the lady at their booth at my school’s college fair for a long time, and I visited the campus and had an interview), which I hope will help.
ECs- photography for school paper, football, guitar, occasionally go to salsa dancing club, worked with Fish and Wildlife last summer, and interned with Save the Children in Ethiopia this summer.
Testing- 33 comp ACT, 2040 SAT, 760 Math SAT II, 740 Chem SAT II

The problem is that I am a white boy with parents that both went to college, and I don’t have any legacy

You have a good shot. If you write a great essay you will have a fair chance. But Did you go to Ethiopia?

yeah, I went to Ethiopia for six weeks this summer! It was amazing. I didn’t want to write my college essay directly on my work in Ethiopia (it would be too…idk) so I ended up writing it about how my grandfather died while i was in Ethiopia and how it was an awful feeling to not be able to help my grandfather and father out during a trip when I was supposed to help people

I don’t think you would have any problem getting in.

Due to financial reasons, I may be forced to apply RD. Would this affect my chances? The thing I am worried about is competition with my classmates. Everyone at Exeter has great testing scores, but I doubt ANYBODY else at exeter is applying to Wash U early. If I wait, I will be put up against other exonians, and they won’t take all of us.
