Which top schools do I have a high chance of being accepted?

With that ACT score you really should have a reasonable chance for whatever you want, so you have to narrow down somehow to maybe 5 top schools that would be reaches, 3 other schools that would be likely and 2 safeties that you like. What about size, location, conservative vs. liberal and other characteristics?

Wha’s your rank-official or otherwise? That’s the number 1 factor.

Hi! I was wondering if anybody could give me feedback on my college list. I am new to this site so sorry to tag onto another post but I’m not sure how else to go about this… and perhaps my list will give you some ideas
I am looking for a school that is strong in the liberal arts but that will give me a good education in neuroscience as a major (and hopefully research opportunities). I’d also like to fulfill premed requirements
I prefer big schools and lots of opportunities but academics are more important to me than social scene

Yale University
Columbia University
University of Pennsylvania
Dartmouth College
Duke University
Northwestern University
Johns Hopkins University
Washington University in St. Louis
Brown University
Cornell University
Vanderbilt University
Emory University
Cal Berkeley
University of Virginia
Tufts University
Univeristy of Michigan
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Richmond University

Too many reaches? Too many in general? I am pretty well rounded and top 5% of class but nothing really outstanding about me so I figured a lot of it will be up to luck and I should apply to a lot…

Babson College

There’s very little luck involved in top college admissions. First you need the stats–be very top of class unless your school is unusual, have a 2250 plus with a 1500 plus CR plus math and have outstanding accomplishments outside of the classroom. After that write outstanding essays, get outstanding revs and try not to be an overrepresented minority from an overrepresented state.

It gets more sane when you get to Vandy on your list. Then top 5% works nicely as does a 2150 plus and well rounded ECs.
