Thanks! I’m a current senior who applied ED to Williams and am so nervous to hear back!

I think you have REALLY really good chances for ED to Williams given your stats and extracurriculars, as for the RD school I imagine you will be admitted to at least one of them, granted your essays and recs are good. It’s a lot about fit with qualified candidates like you

Welcome to College Confidential, @psychluvr !

Don’t drive yourself crazy with a chance thread. You’ve submitted your application, and now it is out of your hands… and you will hear back soon, probably around Friday, December 7th, if it is like last year!

You can be proud of your excellent achievements. Clearly, statistically you are a strong candidate who could do well at Williams and similar schools. But none of us posters here have a crystal ball to tell you what Williams will think of your full application relative to those of all the other ED applicants this year. Unfortunately, now it is just time to wait to hear.

My advice? Spend some time getting excited about other colleges as well, particularly any to which you already have been accepted via early action or rolling admissions. Work on regular decision applications to several match and safety schools you also like (but don’t submit them, paying the RD application fees, until after you hear from Williams). Then, when the decision comes, you won’t be devastated by a deferral or rejection, since you will have reminded yourself that there are other colleges where you could be very happy… and you still will be thrilled if you are accepted!

I assume that, whereas you listed only the crazily competitive schools that are reaches for almost everyone, you also have some colleges on your list that admit a much higher percentage of applicants. If you do not, then definitely make sure you apply to some such colleges that you would be excited to attend.

Good luck!
