Yale says that every year there are about 300 students every admission season whose academic record is outstanding and above questioning. I have to believe you’re one of them, and I consider myself pretty qualified as well. You’re in the top 1-2% (more important than val in my opinion, although it depends on your school), you have 2350 + 1600, 9 5’s and a 4, and your math/science awards are really impressive. Your service is really good as well. Your EC’s are not going to bowl anyone over, and where you go to school will change things a touch, but pretty astonishing overall.

Well, if this is all true, however. :P

Hey! You did the 2008 National Brain Bee?

So did I. But what do you mean by finalist?..there were no indian males in the last round (the round with 5 people).

lol by finalist i mean qualifier. i think that’s the correct lingo. haha and i’m pretty sure i know who you are.

bump…i’d appreciate any feedback

o **** im screwed

You’re very competitive at HYPSM. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get into at least two of them. You’ve also done a nice job playing up your culture/ethnicity despite not being a URM. Congrats on your accomplishments to date.

What do you mean “playing up your culture?”

i think you’re pretty much in line to get accepted to yale ea and at least one of harvard, mit, and pton…IF your essays turn out to be as good as they sound right now. like weasel, i congratulate you on what you’ve accomplished.

ps except for brain bee and debate, we are so similar achievement-wise, its kinda scary. like, i went to isef 2x, got a 4th place this year as well, 1st in my state’s jshs as well, lotsa mu alpha theta awards, and pres of my school’s NHS and science club thing. and i have 9 ap 5’s and 1 4. buttt i got only a 2330 :stuck_out_tongue: and my ap scores are after senior year, not junior year haha

Doing community service for Indians affected by the tsunami, writing essays on Bollywood and Sanskrit, etc.

haha yeah that’s how i’ve been planning on presenting my app. idk if it’s stereotypical to a certain extent, but hopefully i can make it work.

Like I said earlier, it might be stereotypical for URMs to play up their race, but I doubt many ORMs do it. I bet it will make you stand out.

I think you’re in for SCEA.

I live in Pakistan and it makes me proud that people like you from South Asian descent are not only doing spectacular things academically, but in the community service sector as well. You make us all proud.
P.S. I was also planning on applying SCEA to yale- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/538761-help-please.html
