Dear oneal32 : A two way SAT score of 1260 places you right at the bottom quartile - the 25th-percentile of admitted student from two years back. This means you might be in the bottom quartile now given that standards have crept upwards over the last two years. Your ACT score is in the third quartile however we have seen numerous rejections on college confidential with scores of 29. Your science score of 23 is an immediate and glaring red flag - you have to decide to retake the ACT or not submit those scores. (For comparison purposes, a 23 is roughly the same as a 530 on an SAT II which is surely not in keeping with the competitive level at Boston College.)

On leadership, your essays will need to paint a picture as to why your senior class presidency made a difference. In a class of only 86 graduating students, you should be able to show leadership across the campus more easily than one trying to head a graduating class of 500 or more students. Your class rank and GPA are very much in line with the top 10% profile sought after by so many schools including Boston College.

Your community college and Brown summer programs are interesting material which might be very relevant to your application. Right now, you are a stretch, but a strong presentation of these secondary activities might offset your weak board scores. Be sure to plan another set of exam attacks during the Fall semester of your senior year.
