Chances...can i move on with my life?

So Ive been wrapped up in this college stuff for a pretty good part of this year and now that its game time (or applying time, whatever you want to call it) I’d like your opinions on how should spend my summer/where I should apply/what tests I should take…While your at it I wouldnt mind your opinions of my chances at the schools on my list.

Let me preface by saying that I want to end up in business after college, yet I don’t necessarily want to go into a schools business school or major in finance/accounting… I am also looking for a school that has a healthy social life. I would appreciate any opinions, ideas, additions or subtractions to the list I have below

Reaches:
U Penn (ED to the CAS, I want to major in Philosophy Politics and Economics)
Stanford (im pretty much applying because its where I wanted to go when I was younger and even though I am 100% positive I would rather be at Penn, I don’t want to ever regret not applying)

Slight Reaches: still reachy but my scores are on the high end of the ranges
Georgetown
Cornell
Norhtwestern

Matches:
Emory (Emory scholar as a reach)
Michigan (Ross direct admit as a reach)
NYU Stern (legacy if it matters, might be a slight reach)

Safe Match:
George Washington

Safety:
SUNY Binghamton

Now for my stats:

SAT: M:740 CR: 720 W: 700 = 2160 (most likely going to retake)
SAT II: US: 780 Physics: 770 Math IC: 740 Bio: 720 Chem: 710
ACT: Math:36 Reading:36 Sci:35 Eng:26 = 33 (most likely going to retake)

Freshman and Sophmore Weighted (all school provides) GPA =94.5
Junior year GPA =99+
School doesnt rank (typically sends 30+ out 500 to Ivy’s)
AP’s: Euro (3…ouch), Physics B (4), US (5)
Senior Year schedule: AP Micro/Macro/Lit/Calc AB/Physics C/Comparitve Government
All honors/AP

EC’s:

Led a peer education seminar on AIDS

Awards/Honors Societies:

4th place in a Long Island business competition

Work Experience:
This summer I am Interning at a Financial publishing firm/hedge fund (seperate businesses)

I have only been interning for a few week so far but the job has really appealed to me. Im not sure if it will help me with admissions but I am positive that this is what I want to do when I get out of college. I really want to study a variety of things in school (science, liberal arts, business) but I am positive that after college I want to become a part of corporate America. While my ECS are very generic and unimpressive, I am going to focus most of my essays on the clear cut goals I have for myself (to make the most of my college education and then put everything I have behind my push to achieve my goals). I also want to address my desire to be socially active, not just in the party scene but through the ec’s offered, basically I want to let the colleges know that I am going to make the most of my time in every way that I can.

I know that was alot to read but if you still have any desire to share your opinions, I would greatly appreciate them (even if you feeling talking a little smack ;-)

Forgot to add that I am a White male from a competitive (top 100) high school on Long Island, NY

and

I have taken 3 years of Russian in addition to Spanish and plan to continue Russian in college

30 plus students from your skool go to ivies, thats amazing

I know that 30+ are accepted each year but Im not sure how many actually go. 12 were accepted to Cornell through early decision alone.

anyone!?!?!?!

well Cornell does recieve funding from the state of NY and takes 1/3 of their students from NY so yeah not extremely surprising

i think your list is very appropriate… i dont know if you really need to retake those tests though…

Haha you made the list for us already! A 33 in the ACT is in the 2200 range, so I don’t know if you want to retake that, unless you want to eliminate that 26 in English.

thanks for the opinions…anyone else?

helloooooooooo

update: I recieved an 11 on my ACT essay to make my English/Writing score a 28

whats up cc?

Do you go to CSH, Manhasset, South Side, Jericho or one of the Great Necks?

I go to Syosset
