Chances/Classes

What are my chances to get into Harvard, University of Southern California, or UCLA? Should I take Physics? My school does not offer Honors Physics, but it offers physics and AP Physics. I’ll have 4 AP classes next year, if I don’t take Physics. Should I continue band, instead of taking AP Physics and take physics to replace AP Art History in my schedule?

Importance of cost: Secondary

What’s your scores?

For Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, you don’t qualify for admission at this point. You have to take one more SATII. With decent scores, you would make an average applicant, not bad but also not extraordinary.

Moving on, you have good chances for all the UCs, and USC. You should apply to schools between the gap in difficulty, such as Cornell, Duke, U Penn, Brown, Chicago etc. Since cost is secondary, you should see what they have to offer.

No to HYPS. Academics are fine, but what is memorable/unique about you? What gives you an edge over the 10,000 other academically qualified applicants?

In at USC, UCLA

apply to Duke, Northwestern?

Gryffon5147: Stanford doesn’t require SAT IIs, so the OP is currently qualified.

Havard no longer has SCEA or ED. What state are you coming from?

That Math IIC is pretty low. See if you can replace it with a retake or a higher SAT II in another area.

Yale no longer needs three - they just announced that you only need two for the next admissions cycle (http://www.yale.edu/admit/news/sat.html</a>). ACT kids still don’t need to submit any.

I’m from California. I turned in my Eligibility in Local Context(Contact?) form, which I heard helps my chances to get into a UC school.

When are you planning to take the SAT or ACT?

Hmm… I never knew that about the SAT IIs. Thanks!

I took it today. The critical reading was kind of hard for me, but the math was kind of easy.

Very low for California. You have to be competitive against the rest of your state first.

to bandittx.
please don’t go around telling people they have absolutely no chances at all when you haven’t even looked at their stats.
and by the way, you are pretty pathetic when you said this:
Very low for California. You have to be competitive against the rest of your state first
HELLO. the kid has a Weighted 4.56 gpa and top 5 in his class.
don’t go around giving people stupid advice.
save it for yourself okay?
thanks.

NSHSS

Yay, I’m not the only idiot who paid $45 to get in this club.

SAT II U.S. History: 720
SAT II Math Level 2 (IIC): 640

It could go either way. I tend to lean towards bandit in this regard, seeing as the the Math IIC is on the low side. But if the OP does another one or two SAT IIs and scores well (along with SATs), then there is no reason not to believe that the OP has a fair chance at any of those schools.

(still a junior, take words with grain of salt.)
