Chances? :D

I know my record isn’t anything special or like those who have 5.0 W GPA with a 1600 SAT, etc, but I do believe my stats are worth something.

I just did my SAT this past week so I can’t report that score but I’m feeling very confident that it’s 1400+.

GPA (as of last year)
UW: 3.712
W: 4.21

AP
AP Euro: 4
AP Calc AB: 4
AP Environment: 3
AP US: 5
AP Lang: 5
AP Physics 1: 2

EC:

  • FBLA 3 years - President, PR; lotssss of awards at State and Regional
  • ASB 3 years - Treasurer
  • Link Crew 1 year
  • Tri-M Honors Society 3 years
  • worked job consistently from middle of sophomore year to now (20 hours a week year round)
  • NHS 1 year

My actual high school schedule can be found in another thread I asked but I have only ever taken honors classes and AP classes - never the easier version (always AP instead of honors, honors instead of regular).

I am going to go into Environmental Science and these are the schools I want to know my chances of:

University of Washington
UC Berkeley
University of Michigan
Stanford (REACH for sure)
CalTech (Reach)

Thank you!

You may wish to revise your list of colleges. Unweighted GPA is (next to rigor) perceived by colleges as one of the most salient indicators of academic diligence. Even if your SAT score is as high as you predict, AOs could read into this (whether wrongly or not) that you are an intelligent student who has difficulty with executive functioning.

The most realistic of the colleges you list is UW, where your GPA still places you under the 25th percentile. According to UW’s Common Data Set (https://www.washington.edu/opb/uw-data/external-reporting/common-data-set/) test scores are less important than GPA, so unless your SAT is well above 1440 (or 1500 if you’re a nonresident) I would not consider it a safety for you.

The remaining four are harder to get into. Caltech will be nearly impossible given your GPA and performance on AP tests in STEM areas.

I hope you also are applying to schools you haven’t listed here. Caltech, Berkeley, and Stanford should not be considered targets by any applicant, no matter how accomplished.
