My essay is about the impact that trivia has had on my life, starting out growing up in the northern wastelands, to Academic Team, to the national success at WorldQuest, to community outreach at my local library. My counselor said it was excellent, for what that’s worth. It’s the best I have, as I don’t have any particularly trying hardships in my life, nor have I had opportunities to travel. I’m expecting recommendations to be solid as well.

I’m not asking for chances at HYP or the other Ivies, since those are a reach for everybody. At the schools I mentioned above, I’m not applying for Engineering and will likely study Economics and Mathematics. Thoughts? Suggestions for one school that you think is a match for me? Thanks!

you’re VERY well qualified for ucberkeley, especially since your scores are so high. I hear Northwestern is very strong for econ, so I would suggest you look into that. refreshing to see someone with realistic expectations. Chance me if you have a minute? Thanks and best of luck!

Thanks, of course I’m still applying to (and would love to attend) some of the Ivies and Stanford and MIT, but no sense in adding to the clutter of “these schools are a reach for everyone.” Going to work hard this year, and good luck to you too!

You’re an all-around great applicant. You’ll easily get into all the UCs. IMO northwestern and UChicago are matches, while Duke may be a low reach or high match. You should definitely apply to HYPS of you’d like;'you have a high chance of getting into at least one.
Work tediously on your essays!
