chances for 2.68 GPA? Will chance back

I have a 2.68 GPA. I know its bad, but this was mainly due to my mother dying freshman year and my fathers debilitating state after her death. I had a 2.0 freshman yr, a 2.65 sophmore yr, a 3,259 junior yr, and a 3.67 senior yr (so far)

my counselor and one community service advisor included what happened in their recommendation letters
Participated in Red Ribbon Club, Red Cross Club, worked various jobs, raised $2000 and built a school in Malawi through the BuildOn program, created a subdivision of Habitat For Humanity, and did alot of other community service projects

ANY advice or feedback would help alot…

Depends where you’re applying

Christine:

Some schools don’t count your grades in the 9th grade. You might try to identify them.

Also, you might consider applying to the United Kingdom, where I understand they go mainly by SAT scores and AP test scores.

But as the previous poster said, it really depends on where you are applying.

I would guess that if you are applying to a smaller private college, they would take your circumstances more into account than at a giant state university, where they are more likely to just crunch the numbers.
