Chances for a 1.8 GPA?

I was recently rejected as a transfer to NCSU for spring 2020. My initial GPA from UNC was a 1.8, due to medical problems and a withdrawal late in my third semester there.

Since then I’ve done two semesters at a cc (4.0) and several non-degree courses at ncsu (3.87). I was hoping that my improvement, along with strong ECs (work 20 hours/week, volunteer in selective hospital position, honors courses at cc, internship at advocacy organization) would give me a chance.

After my rejection I’m so much more nervous. I’ll reapply to ncsu and several other schools but do I have any chance? I’m also looking at Meredith, UNCC, UNCA

A bad first semester is very common. College is a shock to the system. My first semester in undergraduate was about the same, and I didn’t have medical problems. It looks like you got it together, better than I ever did. I think your chances are very good for getting into NCSU.
