3.6 in a year at CC. Art history courses and Calculus I. What are my chances for transfering to: Pratt, Cornell, Cal Poly, NYU, Syracuse, RISD… are these within range considering I have a strong portfolio. My aim is a Barch program but a art history major would also work.

Risd and Pratt hardly care what your grades look like if you DO have a strong portfolio. That being said you’re post is basically saying “I’m fit to get in - so will I get in?” Of course if your portfolio is good enough you’ll make it into a great art school but you aren’t really asking anyone to chance you unless you put up a link to some of your work or something.

If you are going for art, your portfolio is what matters.

I don’t know anything about Pratt’s policy, but I can tell you that RISD does very much care about academic performance. They’ll check your portfolio first, to be sure, but then you also have to have good grades and test scores.

Also consider the fact that it is very unlikely that any of the CC credits would transfer to RISD. They want all of their students to go through the Foundation Year experience and are notoriously stingy about transferring credits from anything other than a “comparably rigorous” arts program.
