** I’ve been uber-Lutheran since I was a baby; I want to major in religion/humanities. I’ve written research papers on the conflicting religions of Catholicism and Buddhism in Vietnam and its effects on American views of Religion during the Vietnam War; and another paper tracking the influence of grassroots Progressivism on Christianity as well as Eastern Religion in America in the early 1900’s. (Also wrote a paper on disillusionment in American literature in the 1950’s)**

^^^^ All papers written outside of school, not for credit.

UChicago
JHU
Notre Dame
Swarthmore
Carleton College
Amherst
Macalester

I know I’m a long shot!!!

Bump bump bump!

You’re the kind of kid that Carleton, Macalester, and UChicago love. Notre Dame is well within your range. Write good applications and make sure your apps are strong and you’ll get in.

Swarthmore is a reach. As is JHU.

What does it mean to “Write a paper?” For example, I’ve written 20+ page research papers for some classes before, but how does that matter in terms of enrollment?

^ O.o You have a will of steel for 20+ pages, saasaa!

I guess out-of-the-classroom stuff like papers shows initiative to do research out of the classroom, etc.

Bumping again!

Send in abstracts of your papers in along with your app. I agree that the schools you are applying to will pick up on this interest. Chicago has a “Religion in Humanities” major.

Bump bump bump!

what does bump mean?

brooklynrats, the threads with the most recent posts are the ones that appear first on the list, and thus are read most. So in order to get more people to respond, OPs will “bump” their thread up to the top by making a gratuitous reply.

^^^ pinnipotto, could you chance me? as long as you stopped by…

EDIT: ACT went up to a 32.

bump bump bump bump!

I am bumping again!

I must honestly and as most humbly as possible say that notre dame isn’t terribly tough to get into. I think you have a reasonable chance there…if ur taking the SAT, aim for a 2100+

In my opinion, all those schools are in the match-reach range, but were obviously selected very carefully for their intellectual vibe (but notre dame?) and strong humanities. I do suggest you look at schools that are easier to get into for safeties, perhaps

Sarah Lawrence
Elon
Bard

I think you have a very good chance at all of these schools! I wish you the best of luck!

Yay! And bump again!
